Tribunal for North Korea . There are many horrible stories about the North Korean regime's disregard for human rights, but I recently heard one that's hard to forget: On a recent trip to Seoul, a North Korean mother told me she and her 14-year-old daughter fled North Korea but were separated in China. The mother waited in China to reunite with her daughter only to discover that Chinese security agents had forced the girl back to North Korea, where border guards beat her to death. It is hard to conceive of human beings who are capable of killing a 14-year-old girl simply for fleeing with her mother in search of a better life. Yet these same monsters are continuing this brutality in detention centers and political prison camps all over North Korea. What can a civilized society do to stop the atrocities being committed right now against the North Korean people by the Kim Jong Il regime? ... The criminal case against ACORN. In a move to block designation of $8.5 billion in economic stimulus funds, Republicans on a House committee released a report calling for a criminal investigation of ACORN, the community activist group tied to numerous charges of voter fraud nationwide. The 88-page report asks whether ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, is intentionally structured as a criminal enterprise. Commissioned by Rep. Darrell Issa of California, the ranking Republican on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, the report charges ACORN "hides behind a paper wall of nonprofit corporate protections to conceal a criminal conspiracy on the part of its directors , to launder federal money in order to pursue a partisan political agenda and to manipulate the American electorate." ... Passport seeker has no sympathy for Obama. Juan A. de Hoyos, a naturalized U.S. citizen living in Texas, wanted to cross the Rio Grande to see some family members. On June 1, it became mandatory to have a passport to travel to Mexico. When he submitted his application, he included the only document he had that resembled the required birth certificate � a Texas birth card or birth abstract, a document he describes as looking "almost identical to the one President Obama posted on that website." But while that certification of live birth was enough to qualify Obama for the White House, de Hoyos can't believe the only birth document he has won't qualify him to get a U.S. passport. This doesn't sit well with de Hoyos � and many other Americans in similar situations being forced to produce exactly the right paperwork for routine matters while they see the president getting a pass on a constitutional requirement to be eligible for the highest office in the land. "I merely want to be able to cross a bridge to go see my family, and I am being told that my 'abstract of birth' is not sufficient," said de Hoyos. Obama to Iran: Let Them Eat Ice Cream. On Iran, President Obama is worse than Hamlet. He's Colin Powell, waiting to see who wins before picking a side. Last week, massive protests roiled Iran in response to an apparently fraudulent presidential election, in which nutcase Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was declared the winner within two hours of the polls closing. (ACORN must be involved.) Obama responded by boldly declaring that the difference between the loon Ahmadinejad and his reformist challenger, Mir Hossein Mousavi, "may not be as great as advertised." Maybe the thousands of dissenters risking their lives protesting on the streets of Tehran are doing so because they liked Mousavi's answer to the "boxers or briefs" question better than Ahmadinejad's. Then, in a manly rebuke to the cheating mullahs, Obama said: "You've seen in Iran some initial reaction from the supreme leader" -- peace be upon him -- "that indicates he understands the Iranian people have deep concerns about the election." Sotomayor Achilles' heel? Wrongly imprisoned man. The nomination by President Obama of 2nd Circuit Court Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court is more than alarming to an innocent man who was convicted of murder and spent 16 years in prison before being cleared and released. Jeff Deskovic, whose pursuit of freedom has been chronicled by the New York Times and others, told WND that the last six of those years are directly attributable to decisions endorsed by Sotomayor. "I'm very alarmed," he said. "The rest of my life, as a result of my ordeal, is dedicated to preventing this from happening to other people." Waterboarding Japanese Style. The Japanese routinely beheaded and bayoneted prisoners; forced prisoners to dig their own graves and then buried them alive; amputated prisoners' healthy arms and legs, one by one, for sport; force-fed prisoners dry rice and then filled their stomachs with water until their bowels exploded; and injected them with chemical weapons in order to observe, time and record their death throes before dumping them in mass graves. While only 4 percent of British and American troops captured by German or Italian forces died in captivity, 27 percent of British and American POWs captured by the Japanese died in captivity. Sonia Sotomayor 'La Raza member'. As President Obama's Supreme Court nominee comes under heavy fire for allegedly being a "racist," Judge Sonia Sotomayor is listed as a member of the National Council of La Raza, a group that's promoted driver's licenses for illegal aliens, amnesty programs, and no immigration law enforcement by local and state police. According the American Bar Association, Sotomayor is a member of the NCLR, which bills itself as the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S. Meaning "the Race," La Raza also has connections to groups that advocate the separation of several southwestern states from the rest of America. Over the past two days, Sotomayor has been heavily criticized for her racially charged statement: "I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life." ... Rush Limbaugh pummels Obama on birth certificate. Nationwide attention about President Obama's lack of producing a long-form birth certificate proving his eligibility for office got a boost today when top-rated radio host Rush Limbaugh joked about the subject in comparing Obama to God. Asking rhetorically what God has in common with Obama, Limbaugh said, "Neither has a birth certificate." "How do they differ?" Limbaugh continued. "God does not think he's Obama. What About Obama's Transparency? Just last week, Farah announced the billboard campaign to raise public awareness of the fact that Obama has never released the standard, "long-form" birth certificate that would show which hospital he was born in, the attending physician and establish that he truly was born in Hawaii, as his autobiography maintains. The "Certification of Live Birth" posted online and widely touted as "Obama's birth certificate" does not in any way prove he was born in Hawaii, since the same "short-form" document is easily obtainable for children not born in Hawaii. The true "long-form" birth certificate "which includes information like the name of the birth hospital and attending physician" is the only document that can prove Obama was born in Hawaii, but to date he has not permitted its release for public or press scrutiny. Oddly, though congressional hearings were held to determine whether Sen. John McCain was constitutionally eligible to be president as a "natural born citizen," no controlling legal authority ever sought to verify Obama's claim to a Hawaiian birth. ... The Obama administration's policy of producing ethanol as a renewable fuel substitute for gasoline will add to the number of people in Third World countries who are chronically hungry, according to energy experts. Obama's Bipartisan Sham. Judge orders homeschoolers into public district classrooms. A North Carolina judge has ordered three children to attend public schools this fall because the homeschooling their mother has provided over the last four years needs to be "challenged." The children, however, have tested above their grade levels � by as much as two years. The decision is raising eyebrows among homeschooling families, and one friend of the mother has launched a website to publicize the issue. The ruling was made by Judge Ned Mangum of Wake County, who was handling a divorce proceeding for Thomas and Venessa Mills. A statement released by a publicist working for the mother, whose children now are 10, 11 and 12, said Mangum stripped her of her right to decide what is best for her children's education. The judge, when contacted by WND, explained his goal in ordering the children to register and attend a public school was to make sure they have a "more well-rounded education." ... First Steps Taken Toward Socialism. An Oklahoma City police officer stopped Chip Harrison and confiscated a sign on Harrison's vehicle that read, "Abort Obama, not the unborn." A police captain later apologized and returned the sign to Harrison, but before Harrison got home he received a call from Secret Service agents who were at his home requesting to search it. Harrison complied, and after a search and an interview that lasted about 30 minutes, the agents left. GOP criticizes government over handling of AIG bonuses. In reaction to the bill that imposes a tax on bailed-out companies� bonus recipients, a Republican congressman has said the move may be "legally questionable." On Thursday the House overwhelmingly approved the legislation that will impose 90 percent surtax on any bonus paid after Dec. 31, 2008, by a company that received $5 billion or more in taxpayer money from the Troubled Asset Relief Program. Any current or former employee whose family income exceeds $250,000 will be subject to the tax. "The Democratic bill is constitutionally questionable," said Representative Mike Pence (Indiana), quoted by newsmax.com, adding that the Obama administration is trying to deflect attention from the fact that it had allowed the bonuses to be paid in the first place. Sebelius as Health Sec'y - an oxymoron? Morality & Big Government. The more family breakdown there is, the more demand there is for Big Government. The more demand for Big Government, the farther we drift away from limited constitutional government. And the more vulnerable we are to political demagogues (such as Bush, McCain and Obama among many others) who claim to be able to solve our social problems.  Widespread family breakdown, in other words, is a major factor in making our society less, not more, free. Pelosi: Birth control will help economy. In an interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., defended huge sums of money for "family planning services" tucked into President Obama's proposed economic stimulus package, claiming contraception will reduce government costs. "Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services," Stephanopoulos asked Pelosi, "how is that stimulus?" "Well, the family planning services reduce cost," Pelosi answered. Remembering Benazir. Thursday's tragic assassination of Benazir Bhutto, the former prime minister of Pakistan who returned to her country two months ago, is a staggering loss. Worldwide, Christians who are passionate about reaching Muslims should mourn her murder. My own heart is heavy, as a great woman and honest friend has been taken away. I knew Benazir personally, having debated her at the Oxford Union a few years ago. The day after the debate, she invited me to a private tea in her London home, where we talked about our similar backgrounds. Global Positioning for Baby Jesus. A baby Jesus statue here is getting a Global Positioning System for Christmas.
