Revolt in an Automobile Factory
by Nic Samojluk
Introduction: I wrote the following short allegory in the heat of the controversy surrounding the passage of Proposition 8 which was designed to protect the marriage institution. The people's initiative passed by a narrow marting, and there are currently serious challenges to this amendment to the California Constitution. Homosexual organization have filed several lawsuits asking the California Supreme Court to invalidate the will of the people.

Newsbreak! We have just received a report from our correspondent in Auto Land, the site of one of the most prestigious automobile assembly plants in the Unites States. Witnesses claim that some nuts and bolts have revolted against management and they seem to have a significant amount of support from some of the assembly workers and even some of the supervisors at the plant.
The problem started when a group of nuts refused to be attached to their corresponding bolts, and the revolt spread to a number of bolts as well who claimed that they are no longer willing to tolerate the obvert discrimination against them. They claim that their natural inclination is to be attached to their own kind, and that it is unfair to treat them as lower class citizens.
Our correspondent was able to contact the Nut Manager, who sided with the protesters, and ruled that it was unconstitutional to deprive the revolting nuts and bolts of their rights. The result is that the assembly plant has been turning quite a number of automobiles with some bolts attached with super glue to bolts, and nuts to nuts with the same adhesive. The manager argued that there is no danger that anything serious will happen to the safety of those automobiles, and that a recall of the alleged defective product is unlikely."
