Mexico's Immigration Laws and Illegal Aliens. Recently Mexican President Calderon has been very outspoken, critical on U.S. Immigration law enforcement efforts and supports Amnesty for all illegal aliens from Mexico residing, working in this nation. Contrary to popular belief, Mexico has very strict immigration laws which are enforced by every police agency in the country. The Bureau of Immigration can call upon any law enforcement officer to assist in their mission. Citizens from the United States traveling in Mexico without proper documents, work permits or non immigrant visas are subject to arrest as illegal aliens. ... Back From Guantanamo. Adil Hassan Hamad can scarcely believe he is back with his family in Sudan, because only days ago he was still in the US's Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba. "I am very, very happy and not believing this," Adil tells Al Jazeera, "That I am here with my family - even now I feel this could all be taken away at any moment." In 2002, Adil and another man, Salim Mahmoud Adam, were picked up from their homes in Peshawar, Pakistan, by Pakistani troops and were later handed over to the US. ... Bali Aims to Share Weight of Emissions Cuts. The agreement, approved by nearly 190 nations after several days of talks, calls on developing nations to take "actions" to mitigate climate change in a "measurable, reportable, and verifiable" manner. The language implies that countries like China, which is poised to overtake the U.S. as the world's largest carbon emitter, will face a new level of accountability and pressure to reduce emissions under the next global climate-change pact. But the accord, hammered out at the end of the 12-day United Nations conference, stopped short of requiring the developing -- or the developed -- world to make binding cuts. ... North Korea Replies to Bush With an Offer and a Condition. WASHINGTON — Responding to a recent letter from President Bush, North Korea agreed on Friday to follow through on its pledge to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula, provided the United States reciprocates by normalizing relations between the countries. President Bush said Friday that his initial letter, which was delivered by Assistant Secretary of State Christopher R. Hill to the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-il, on Dec. 5, achieved its purpose. ... Al Gore Opens Mouth, Increases Carbon Footprint, Gore especially shone when he exhibited his vast knowledge of the science of climate change. Addressing the fact that icecaps on Mars are melting as well and temperatures on Pluto have also been rising, Mr. Gore said, "This just underscores how the Bush administration is bent on destroying not just the ecosystem of the Earth, but of the whole Universe." ... Global Warming Lies Create a Climate of Crisis. A November 30 Bloomberg News article by Kristian Rix and Mathew Carr reported that Japan, Spain, and Italy face as much as $33 billion in fines as the result of having agreed to reduce so-called "greenhouse gas" emissions and failed. These three nations are deemed the "worst performers among 36 nations that agreed to curb carbon dioxide gases that cause climate change." Among the nations exempt from the Kyoto Protocol are China and India, both of whom represent two of the six billion people on planet Earth. The idea that limits on carbon dioxide emissions could be achieved without their participation is idiotic. ... Full story: http://freedom.org/news/200712/12/caruba.phtml
Buy A Gun. Most of us are aware that the heroic actions of a brave woman at the New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado a few days ago saved the lives of perhaps scores, or even hundreds, of people. However, her bravery would not have counted for much had she not been armed. On that fateful December Sunday, a man by the name of Matthew Murray entered the church armed to the teeth. According to press reports, he was armed with a semi-automatic rifle, two handguns, some smoke grenades, and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition. ... The Subprime 'Crisis' -- Time for Government Intervention? Should government reward the shortsighted losers and, by extension, punish firms such as Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers that had the foresight to protect themselves? People in the insurance business use a term called "moral hazard." This means actions, however well-intended, that shield people from the consequences of their behavior lead to even more irresponsible behavior. Secretary Paulson recently said, "I have no interest in bailing out lenders or property speculators." ... Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition. Now someone has shot back, probably saving many lives. All of the gun-control laws that have been passed and are still being contemplated could not have had the affect of one armed, trained and law-abiding citizen on the scene like 42-year-old Jeanne Assam, a volunteer security guard at the New Life Church in Colorado Springs. The gunman, 24-year-old Mathew Murray, had been expelled from the Youth With a Mission (YWAM) organization for health reasons, according to officials. Authorities say Murray vowed revenge in several Web postings, which copied abundantly from the manifesto written by Columbine High School killer Eric Harris before the 1999 school massacre. ... The Nazi Holocaust Never Happened? It is a matter of history that when the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, General Dwight Eisenhower found the victims of the death camps, he ordered all possible photographs to be taken and for the German people from the surrounding villages to be ushered through the camps and even made to bury the dead. He did this he said, in words to this effect; "Get it all on record now - get the films - get the witnesses - because somewhere down the track of history some ******* will get up and say that this never happened. "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" Edmund Burke. This week, the UK removed the Holocaust from it's school curriculum because it "offended" the Muslim population because they say it never occurred. [Sent by Wyjoz]
New York Philharmonic to Visit North Korea. Adding a cultural wrinkle to the diplomatic engagement between the United States and North Korea, the New York Philharmonic plans to visit Pyongyang, the North Korean capital, in February, taking the legacy of Beethoven, Bach and Bernstein to one of the world’s most isolated nations. The trip, at the invitation of North Korea, will be the first significant cultural visit by Americans to that country, and it comes as the United States is offering the possibility of warmer ties with a country that President Bush once consigned to the “axis of evil.” ... One Nation Under Mitt. WASHINGTON -- Voters may not know any more about Mormonism than they did before Mitt Romney's faith speech on Thursday, but they surely know more about what it means to be an American. Romney's much-anticipated address from the George H.W. Bush library at Texas A&M reminded Americans of some fundamental truths that often get lost in the guerrilla warfare of presidential politics. He made two important points clear: Freedom and religious liberty are inextricably linked. And, though Romney's religion informs his life, leaders of his church will not inform his decisions as president. ... Victims of uninsured drivers: sue Department of Motor Vehicles. "Here in California the numbers are astronomical. Statewide, over one third of drivers lack insurance--about 33 percent, according the California Department of Insurance. Statewide, the problem is worst in the Los Angeles, Imperial, San Diego and Alameda counties. With the exception of Alameda, the uninsured rates in those counties reaches a whopping 90 percent range. British Put Warning Label on Gore Film. You probably won't read this in any US paper, but the Brits aren't too impressed with former Vice President Al Gore's sci fi flick, An Inconvenient Truth. The British high court ruled Gore's Academy Award winning global warming film cannot be shown in any public school in England without an explicit disclaimer. The high court ruled that students must be warned that the film is partisan, political advocacy, not a factual representation of what is actually happening with the climate of the world. Get a Horse and Sterilize Yourself. When people are pushed to live consistently with their worldview assumptions, all kinds of revelations come to light. Toni Vernelli was sterilized at age 27 to “reduce her carbon footprint” and “protect the planet.”1 If pressed, I wonder if Vernelli would decry antibiotics to keep people from dying from disease and peace talks to avert war. Ron Paul and Competing Currencies. As America’s inherently self-destructive monetary and banking systems lurch from crisis to crisis—and one foreign country after another announces its intention to reduce its reliance on Federal Reserve Notes as a “reserve” currency, and perhaps soon as any currency at all—I am tempted to say, “I told you so!” ... So what is to be done? The solution to the problems the Federal Reserve System poses is to set up a system of competing currencies: Federal Reserve Notes and base-metallic Treasury coinage on one side, silver and gold coin on the other. Remember that the Federal Reserve System is illegal, because the Act that created it gives control of the nation’s money to those private entities, which Congress, under the Constitution, has no power to do. It is illegal for Congress to usurp power it does not have; it is just as illegal for Congress to give its power away. Bush Pardons Turkeys While Eagles Remain Caged. My heart sank this week as I watched the national coverage of President Bush pardoning two turkeys in the Rose Garden. He spoke of this tradition that goes back to the Harry Truman days. How US Attorney Sutton stacked the deck against 2 border patrol agents. While it may well be that these two agents committed an administrative infraction where the failure to file a report is concerned, the incredible thing about this event is that they were charged with using firearms in the commission of a crime. It is my understanding that the intention of that law was to provide additional punishment to any criminal who uses a weapon in the commission of a crime. An example of this would be an alien smuggler who is armed at the time he is smuggling illegal aliens into our country or perhaps smuggling drugs into the United States. ... the law was obviously meant to punish armed criminals. ... When Good News is No News. There’s an old expression about war: “Victory has many fathers, while defeat is an orphan.” But in the case of Iraq, it seems the other way around. We’ve blamed many for the ordeal of the last four years, but it is the American victory in Anbar province that now seems without parents. Over the last few months, the U.S. military forced Sunni insurgents in Anbar to quit fighting. This enemy, in the heart of the so-called Sunni Triangle, had been responsible for most American casualties in the war and was the main cause of unrest in Iraq. Even more unexpectedly, some of the defeated tribes then joined in an alliance of convenience with their American victors to chase al-Qaida from Iraq’s major cities. ... The Wall Came Tumbling Down. Nearly 20 years ago, the Berlin Wall finally came tumbling down. If Humpty Dumpty had been foolish enough to sit on it, that's where he would have had his fatal fall. A Better Way to Go Green. Next month, the world will get a chance to enjoy some brazen hypocrisy. Former Vice President Al Gore will speak in Oslo as he accepts his Nobel Peace Prize. Why An Income Tax is NOT Necessary. "There is absolutely no authority for the federal government to legislate in areas of the environment, education, the NEA, the FDA and many others. When the powers that be wish to circumvent the U.S. Constitution, they do it either through an executive order or international treaties. We strongly encourage you to investigate this issue thoroughly. Prior to the Federal Department of Education, America had the finest schools in the world. In a Sept. 26 conversation with a caller to his program who claimed the media never interview "real soldiers," but just people out of the blue, Rush added for emphasis, "the phony soldiers." ... Less than two minutes after uttering the words "phony soldiers," Limbaugh elaborated on the subject, explaining exactly what he meant by the term. He named one Jesse Macbeth as an example of a phony soldier. Macbeth had become an overnight darling of the far left, a self-described Iraq war veteran and Purple Heart recipient who posted a YouTube video denouncing American military atrocities he'd witnessed. ... Anti-Tobacco Crusaders Boldly Go into Smokers' Homes. During Prohibition, making and selling liquor was illegal, but drinking it was not. With tobacco, we are moving toward the opposite situation, where it will be legal to make and sell cigarettes but not to smoke them. A smoking ban recently approved by the city council of Belmont, Calif., a town halfway between San Jose and San Francisco, is so sweeping that saying where it does not apply is easier than saying where it does. Smoking will still be allowed in tobacco shops, in automobiles, in some hotel rooms, in private residences that do not share a floor or ceiling with other private residences, and on streets and sidewalks, assuming you can find a spot that is not within 20 feet of a smoke-free location. ... Ahmadinejad Calls for the Transfer of Israel to Alaska! Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Friday vowed once again to destroy Israel and called for a referendum to transfer Israel's Jews to Canada, Alaska or Europe. "Canada and Alaska have vast lands, why don't you relocate them over there and keep helping them over there with (aid of) 30 to 40 billion dollars per year for building a new existence over there," Ahmadinejad said during a rally in Tehran to mark Al Quds Day, a political holiday Iran created to protest the "enemies of Islam." ... Sputnik's Impact on American Technology. We had no idea how lucky we were with Sputnik. The subsequent panic turned out to be an enormous boon. The fear of falling behind the Communists induced the federal government to pour a river of money into science and math education. The result was a generation of scientists who gave us not only Apollo and the moon, but the sinews of the information age -- for example, ARPA that created ARPANET that became the Internet -- that have assured American technological dominance to this day. ... Illegal immigrants moving out, Illegal immigrants living in states and cities that have adopted strict immigration policies are packing up and moving back to their home countries or to neighboring states. The exodus has been fueled by a wave of laws targeting illegal immigrants in Oklahoma, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia and elsewhere. Global Warming Hysteria. Despite increasing evidence that man-made CO2 is not a significant greenhouse gas and contributor to climate change, politicians and others who wish to control our lives must maintain that it is. According to the Detroit Free Press, Rep. John Dingell wants a 50-cents-a-gallon tax on gasoline. We've heard such calls before, but there's a new twist. Dingell also wants to eliminate the mortgage tax deduction on what he calls "McMansions," homes that are 3,000 square feet and larger. That's because larger homes use more energy. ... Is the Collapse of the Dollar Near? As I write, the Canadian dollar is at par with our own, which hasn’t happened for more than thirty years. The Saudis for the first time are refusing to follow the Fed’s Bernanke down the chute and Communist-occupied China, which Washington created, is threatening to destroy the dollar by dumping it. The Euro, which started out as an experiment, now stands at an unbelievable $1.40, trending higher. The bond market could collapse. Talk about a possible collapse of the dollar is in the air, ... China to build new space launch center. BEIJING (AP) — China is planning to build a new satellite launch site — the country's fourth — to boost its burgeoning space program, state media reported Sunday. The facility will be located in Wenchang on the southern island province of Hainan, about 38 miles away from the provincial capital Haikou, the official Xinhua News Agency said. The site is close to the equator which makes it well suited for launches because lower latitudes have stronger centrifugal forces, reducing the amount of energy required to launch rockets, Xinhua said. ... Suicide Bombings Never Justified, Majority of Muslims Worldwide Say. George Bush and Osama bin Laden are both losing the battle for Muslim hearts and minds, according to a new report. The Pew Global Attitudes Project, a 47-nation survey, found that rising prosperity in the Islamic world has helped slash support for terrorism and bin Laden, but has not changed minds about the U.S., which most Muslims still view as a military threat. Majorities in 15 of 16 Muslim countries surveyed said suicide bombings can be rarely or never justified, the report said. The Palestinian territories were the exception, where 70 percent of respondents said suicide bombing is sometimes or often justified. The percentage of Muslims saying that suicide bombing is justified fell sharply since 2002 in five of eight countries where the trend could be measured. In Pakistan, for example, 9 percent of Muslims said suicide bombings to defend Islam are often or sometimes justified, compared with 33 percent in 2002. ... Members of Congress Who Should Resign Right After Larry Craig. There has been a lot of talk about Larry Craig's on again/off again decision to resign from Congress. Like most Republicans, I'm of the opinion that Craig should resign, but wouldn't it be great if he could take a few people with him? Like who? Glad you asked! For starters, here are a few honorable mentions that probably deserve to be out of Congress -- or in jail if they're Republicans. Alternately, if they're Democrats, you can look forward to their serving in Congress for the next few decades. Honorable Mentions: Hillary Clinton (D-NY), Congressman John Doolittle (R-CA), Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA), Congressman Paul Kanjorski (D-PA), Congressman Jerry Lewis ... Pentagon Has 3-Day Blitz Plan for Iran. The United States has a "shock and awe" plan designed to annihilate Iran's military, in the event of an attack. According to the Sunday Times of London, the plan calls for massive airstrikes against 1,200 targets in Iran, over three days. Alexis Debat, director of terrorism and national security at the Nixon Center, told the Times that U.S. military planners were not preparing for “pinprick strikes” against Iran’s nuclear facilities. “They’re about taking out the entire Iranian military. ... Whether you go for pinprick strikes or all-out military action, the reaction from the Iranians will be the same.” President Bush has accused Iran of putting the Middle East “under the shadow of a nuclear holocaust" because of its nuclear program. ...
