My guess is that the SDA leadership thinks that defending the sanctity of the Sabbath is more important than defending the sanctity of life. Is breaking the Sabbath a more serious sin in the eyes of God than breaking the bones of an unborn baby? We SDA's have used a ton of ink printing the truth about the Sabbath, but we are not interested in defending the right to life of the unborn.
We preach that the final destiny of human beings will be determined according to their attitude towards the Sabbath. Did Jesus ever say that? Nevertheless, the Lord did say that our future destiny will be decided on the basis of how we treat the little ones [See Matthew 24], and who is more entitled to be called a little one than the unborn?
Recently, the German and Austrian SDA leadership did officially apologize for keeping silent during the Nazi genocide. I think that the time will come when the SDA American leadership will issue a similar apology regarding our silence while a significant number [47 milliom since 1973] of innocent unborn Americans are being mercilessly slaughtered without due process. Apologizing for neglecting our duty is fine, but it doesn't do any good to those who were denied life.
Jesus said, let the children come to me. How can they come if we either poison or dismember them before they have a chance to see the light of day? Jesus also stated, I have come that you may have life, and that you may have it more abundantly. How can the unborn have this abundant life that Jesus wants them to have, if we deprive them of a chance to be born?
