Obamacare gives Planned Parenthood entry to schools? The House's proposed health national health plan would establish "school-based health clinics" on campuses, and one group is warning it could give Planned Parenthood direct access to American schoolchildren at taxpayer expense. The American Family Association, or AFA, is warning that Section 2511 of H.R.3200, or the House plan, titled "School-Based Health Clinics," allows a "non-profit health agency" to serve as a "sponsoring facility" for health clinics that operate during school hours. AFA has provided a document with actual language from H.R.3200 that outlines requirements for the program.  AFA notes that under this provision Planned Parenthood would be authorized to serve as a "sponsoring facility" for the nation's schools. "Because the bill orders these clinics to protect 'patient privacy and student records,' parents will never know what kind of counsel and treatment their children receive by the time they get home from school," he said. Blinded in the Face of Contemporary Genocide. An article on NewsMax this week (Black Abortions Outpace Seven Deadliest Diseases) would certainly generate more media attention if it involved several hundred thousand people being killed in this country each year in a way where the new "hate crimes" laws could apply.  It's amazing that many of the leaders of organizations that profess to be advocates of blacks in this country also advocate that they vote for the very ones who want abortion to be so readily available and legal.  These "leaders" should wake up and start seeing beyond their limited viewpoint of who really is allowing for the destruction of the black community.  When will these "leaders" promote families with fathers marrying mothers and providing for each other and their children instead of constantly going on tirades to raise funds at every perceived wrong use of words by some?  Can't these "leaders" see where their efforts should be placed? Abortion rights groups fight Catholic hospital. ROCKVILLE, MD - Abortion advocates are fighting a proposal to build a new Catholic hospital near Washington, DC. Holy Cross, a Catholic hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland, has submitted a bid to state officials to build a new campus in Germantown. The Maryland Health Care Commission is expected to pick between that bid and one from Adventist HealthCare of Takoma Park in the spring. Adventist wants to build its facility in Clarksburg. A coalition of abortion advocacy groups, including Planned Parenthood, is lobbying the state and Montgomery County's elected officials against Holy Cross' proposal. Holy Cross has restrictions on elective abortions and sterilizations, and the groups say that whatever hospital is built should offer a full range of reproductive health services. ... Nanny state snatches kids for being too fat. A couple soon expecting their seventh child has had their fifth and sixth taken by social workers after warnings that the family needed to slim down their overweight kids or risk losing custody. The unnamed 39-year-old mother from Dundee, Scotland, told the United Kingdom's The Sun newspaper, "This is every family's worst nightmare." Scotland's television station STV reports the family was warned last year that they risk losing all of their kids, ages 3 to 13, unless the children lost weight. At the time, the youngest, a girl, weighed 56 pounds. The oldest, a boy, has since grown to over 220 pounds. "This whole case has been dreadful," said Kathleen Price, the couple's attorney . Fear grows among pro-life activists. Is a double standard being applied to those in the public debate on abortion? In the aftermath of the shooting death of pro-life demonstrator Jim Pouillon in Michigan, some members of the movement are hesitant to picket. Eric Scheidler of the Pro-Life Action League believes that should stop no one from expressing a pro-life view. "It's extremely rare for violence to enter into the abortion battle on either side, and there's no reason to be afraid to go out there on the street," he contends. But Scheidler does wonder if there is a double standard in Washington. "After George Tiller was shot by a lone goofball up there in Kansas, Barack Obama immediately deplored the event and sent out federal marshals. Cleaning Up After the Sexual Revolution. In order to have a sexual revolution, women have to have the same sexual autonomy as men.  This ideology, however, is contradicted by the laws of biology.  Consequently feminists like Gloria Steinem and Shulamith Firestone, who championed the sexual revolution, found it necessary to denounce pregnancy as a kind of outside invasion of the female body.  The fetus became, in Firestone's phrase, an "uninvited guest."  As long as the fetus occupied the mother's womb, these activists argued, the mother should be able to keep or get rid of it at her discretion. Seventh Grader Sues School Over Right to Wear Pro-Life T-Shirt. A California mom says her public school administrators violated her daughter's First Amendment rights when they ordered the seventh-grader to take off her pro-life T-shirt. Anna Amador has gone to court on behalf of her daughter, who she says was ordered by her principal to change her shirt on "National Pro-Life T-Shirt Day." The shirt the girl was wearing displays two graphic pictures of a fetus growing in the womb. The incident occurred in April 2008 at McSwain Elementary School, a K-8 school in Merced, Calif. Amador alleges in her legal complaint that school Principal Terrie Rohrer, Assistant Principal C.W. Smith and office clerk Martha Hernandez mistreated her daughter and denied the girl her First Amendment rights when they ordered her to leave the cafeteria and change her shirt. One of the girl's lawyers, Mark A. Thiel, said that the images on her shirt of a fetus in the womb were same as those in her science textbooks. He said no student had complained about the shirt, and he said the girl's parents were not called when the incident took place. ... In 2002 I received information that a vicious letter from Loma Linda University Medical Center, written on official Loma Linda University letterhead, a letter filled with lies about me, was circulating throughout the country. This letter stated that I, Lorraine Day, M.D., had lied about my cancer and that I had never had cancer. This came from the very University Medical Center that had performed my first biopsy, where the surgeon who had operated on me and who was the respected Chief of the Medical Staff at the time, CALLED ME to tell me that the Loma Linda University Pathologist had diagnosed my biopsy as breast cancer. Operation Rescue demands a retraction and an apology. The Center for Reproductive Rights is an extremist pro-abortion group that has advocated in courts for the non-reporting of child sexual abuse, and the exemption of abortionists from such reporting. One of their witnesses even suggested that adolescents between the ages of 13 and 15 are mature enough to make decisions regarding sexual conduct, but added that he was horrified at the prospect of children in that same age group marrying since they lacked the emotional maturity to engage in married relationships. Catholic nurse ordered to help with abortion. A lawsuit has been filed against Mount Sinai Medical Centerl in New York City for requiring a nurse who had a long record of expressing conscientious objection to abortions to help in the dismemberment of a live 22-week-old preborn child. The case is being brought by the Alliance Defense Fund, which also is seeking a preliminary injunction to prevent the hospital from retaliating against the nurse, Catherina Lorena Cenzon-DeCarlo. "Compelling Mrs. DeCarlo to assist in this abortion against her religious beliefs exposed Mrs. DeCarlo to brutal psychological harm," said the document seeking the injunction. Annually 46 million abortions worldwide. Notre Dame University found itself at the epicenter of controversy concerning President Obama�s speech at their 2009 graduation commencement. Abortion Challenge to the Left: Why do you feel it's ok to kill our children via abortion? I'm a conservative. There are many facets to this viewpoint, just as there are many to someone who claims to be a liberal. Today, I want to challenge the liberal viewpoint that a woman has the "RIGHT" to terminate an unborn life that she has helped create. I have always heard liberals and feminists loudly tout that because it is her body, she has the right to do whatever she wants with it, and the unborn life that is growing inside her does not matter in any way, shape or form. If she decides that having a child, for whatever reason, is not good for her, she then has the right to extinguish that small life. A scourge of epic proportions is ravaging the black community. Faith Hope, the Story of the Anencephalic Baby. When I was 19 weeks pregnant, I was told my baby had no brain.... I was told my baby was only alive because she was attached to me but that she couldn't survive on her own. The doctor said I could continue the pregnancy safely, but my baby would die shortly after being born.... Or I could choose to terminate the pregnancy then, which would mean being induced at 20 weeks and letting my baby die without ever seeing or holding her (I don't even want to know what they do with babies in this case). Suspect in abortion doctor killing had ties to extremist 'church'. With federal authorities now investigating the recent assassination of Dr. George Tiller, an abortion provider in Kansas, new information is emerging about ties between the anti-abortion activist charged with the crime and extremist groups. This weekend the Kansas City Star reported that suspect Scott Roeder was affiliated with the Embassy of Heaven Church, which the Southern Poverty Law Center describes as a "sovereign citizens" group that sells fake passports and other documents to its members, who do not recognize the authority of the U.S. government. Based on filings from Roeder's divorce, the paper reported that the leader of the so-called church -- the former Craig Fleshman, who now goes by the name "Paul Revere" -- wrote letters to court officials in 1999 offering to pay child support owed by Roeder ... Lindsey Roeder told the paper that she informed the FBI about her ex-husband's connection to the Embassy of Heaven, whose literature she reportedly hid from him because he wanted to send them their car title. Understanding America's Shift on Abortion. So when the folks at Gallup announced that, for the first time, more Americans are pro-life than pro-choice, there were all kinds of ways to misunderstand what that means. But if we place any stock at all in those labels, something dramatic has happened. In 1995, when Gallup started asking the question, the split was 56-33 in favor of abortion rights. Now the lines have crossed, and 51% call themselves pro-life while only 42% say they are pro-choice. It's a shift that stretches past personal convictions and into legal constraints. For 35 years, a majority of Americans have wanted abortion to be, essentially, legal with limits. But the movement toward greater restraint is clear. The chief suspect in the murder of Wichita abortion doctor George Tiller is said to have believed in "justifiable homicide," allegedly suffered from mental illness and may have been convicted for criminal use of explosives while he was part of an extremist anti-government group. Scott P. Roeder, 51, of Merriam, Kan., is accused of fatally shooting Tiller with a handgun while the late-term abortion doctor served as an usher at Reformation Lutheran Church in Wichita at 10 a.m. Sunday. More Americans "Pro-Life" Than "Pro-Choice" for First Time. PRINCETON, NJ -- A new Gallup Poll, conducted May 7-10, finds 51% of Americans calling themselves "pro-life" on the issue of abortion and 42% "pro-choice."  This is the first time a majority of U.S. adults have identified themselves as pro-life since Gallup began asking this question in 1995.The new results, obtained from Gallup's annual Values and Beliefs survey, represent a significant shift from a year ago, when 50% were pro-choice and 44% pro-life. Prior to now, the highest percentage identifying as pro-life was 46%, in both August 2001 and May 2002. The May 2009 survey documents comparable changes in public views about the legality of abortion. In answer to a question providing three options for the extent to which abortion should be legal, about as many Americans now say the procedure should be illegal in all circumstances (23%) as say it should be legal under any circumstances (22%). Doctors face orders to 'kill on demand'. Physicians in Montana could be facing "kill-on-demand" orders from patients who want to commit suicide if a district court judge's opinion pending before the state Supreme Court is affirmed. The case has attracted nominal attention nationwide, but lawyers with the Christian Legal Service have filed a friend-of-the-court brief in the pending case because of what it would mean to doctors within the state, as well as the precedent it would set. The concern is over the attack on doctors' ethics and religious beliefs, as well as the Hippocratic oath, that may be violated by a demand that they prescribe deadly chemicals or in some other way assist in a person's death. M.
